Nestled in the village of Thornton, library services started in the basement of the Thornton United Church in the late 1980s, providing Large Print books to the local Seniors' Club. Soon, a library "deposit station" was established in a small area in the Thornton Fire Station with donated items and a rotating collection of books from the County of Simcoe Library Cooperative. It was soon evident that library services were becoming increasingly popular to area residents, so a new facility was proposed. In December 1996, the present Thornton Branch was opened! Happy caching!
