Etapová výstavba „cykloželezničky“ prechádza územím štyroch katastrov: Prešov – Solivar, Dulová Ves, Kokošovce a Zlatá Baňa. Jedná sa o líniovú stavbu cyklistickej trasy, ktorej začiatok je navrhovaný na konci Royovej ulice Sídliska Šváby v meste Prešov v k.ú. Solivar. Cyklistická trasa pokračuje v stúpajúcom teréne v pôvodnej trase lesnej, neskôr pionierskej železničky s ukončením v lokalite Zlatá Baňa – Stavenie pri Dubníku. V 1.etape výstavby sa rieši úsek od št. cesty v k.ú. Solivar po hranicu katastra Kokošovce – Zlatá Baňa. Jednotlivé úseky líniovej stavby po dokončení budú odovzdané do prevádzky pre užívanie cyklistom a turistom. Stavba bude uvádzaná do prevádzky postupne v závislosti od postupu výstavby.
