From the "general" to the "general" / 從"歷史將軍村"步入"現今大眾"
Walking along Guangfu Road, the main traffic artery of Hsinchu, you can find a small bus stop called "The entrance of Jīn Chéng Xīn Cūn" is hidden the the big city. For settling the households of Kinmen (金門) Defense Command after the 1958 Taiwan Strait Crisis, the govenment decided to build a village for them. Because the risidents were from Kinmen, the village was called Jīn Chéng(金城) at that time. Since most of the families belonged the regimental commanders and the generals, Jīn Chéng Xīn Cūn is also called "General Village".
In 2019, the old village was renovated and reconstruct into a new historic park. Although the view of General Village has been changed a lots, you still can find some memories of the year. There are more buildings will be opend in the future.
The cache is located near the entrance of General Village, if you wanted to come here from Hsinchu Train Station, you could choose to take the bus to this stop and visit the park.
