The Colly Brook is probably one of Dartmoor's best kept secrets and its existence is known mainly to the locals. As it flows down towards Peter Tavy it has one of the best waterfalls to be found anywhere on Dartmoor. Even more of a surprise is the swimming pool which can be found a little further down the brook from the falls. The swimming pool is filled from the brook and its water level maintained via a valve.
This cache is part of the FYI series of caches and the published coordinates will take you to a bus shelter containing the Peter Tavy Parish Information Board. You will need to read this board to extract some information which will enable you to calculate the coordinates for the intermediate waypoint.

The intermediate waypoint is a 4-way finger signpost on the new route of the Dartmoor Way. You will need to count the number of words (ignoring any mileage) on one side only of the four different directions.
- How many words are there on the finger post in the direction you came from = K
- How many words are there on the finger post if you were to turn left = L
- How many words are there on the finger post if you were to keep straight on = M
- You need to turn right here. How many words are there on the finger post in that direction = N
The cache can be found at N 50° 34.N(K+L)(M/3) W 4° 05.(K/2)(N-2)(L/2)
Checksum K+L+M+N = 21
IMPORTANT NOTE: When you reach the swimming pool, continue along the footpath which starts near the lifebelt.
Please note that the distance from the information board to the cache is approximately 1km, but there are several other caches along the route and further on as well if you wish to make a longer walk.
