In 1963 June John F Kennedy, by a funny mistake or by an intentional joke announced to the world that he is "Jelly donut" - ("Ich bin ein Berliner"). Funny thing is that in Germany we eat a donut filled with a marmalade, a jelly donut. It is called "Berliner" (You should try it, they are amazing!) Back to the point - nearby, within this beautiful place, stands a monument in honor of this Great Man that fought communism and had "mild" German language skills;)
Sad part is - 5 months later he was assassinated..
However up to this day, every year, a German - American fellowship summer fest is held n this place. Don't go looking for this cache on that day lol!
