Geocache Description:

*****This is a simple two stage multi with a roughly 5 minute walk from the posted coordinates to the final. You will need to gather information from the panel and the statue to calculate the coordinates for the final.*****

"Dear Friend,

I have a favour to ask of you. As you may or may not know my pug and I are keen geocachers but we seem to be rather stuck searching for this one. We're sure we're looking in the right direction but we think we may be too far away to see it. Would you mind awfully seeing if you could work out how much further it is and perhaps even going to collect it for us? I'm not quite as spritely as I used to be and can't quite manage the walk. To work it out you're going to have to change the northings and westings somewhat. You'll need some numbers first though so pay attention.

Did you know I came up with the term "line of beauty and grace"? It describes an S-shaped curve which I'm sure you'll have noticed in a lot of my work. The letter S also features in the text on the plinth of my statue. How many times? Call that "P".

I've always been rather fond of making serieses of images and have created quite a few in my time. How many prints in total are there if you add together the number of prints in "Rake's Progress" and the number of prints in "Beer Street and Gin Lane"? (clue: this is also the number of local geocaches based on those two series...) Call that "A".

We've been stood here like statues looking for this geocache since 2001. How many years before that was it that I bought my house here in Chiswick? Call that "I".

I've owned many pugs in my time and always felt they mirror me somewhat with their irreverent and pugnacious temperament. Do you know what the name of this particular one would score in a game of Scrabble? Call that "N".

While the majority of the work that made me famous and succesful was done by etching I am also a master with the brush. How many am I holding? Call that "T".

Now I hope you're not afraid of doing a little mathematics. You'll need to change the northings by (P4+ A) and the westings by (I+(N*T)).

If you wouldn't mind trotting off and finding that cache for me I would be ever so grateful. Be careful though, my pug may try to go along with you and he can be more of a hazard than you'd think.

Yours,

William."

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
