Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the 100-Mile Hike series. In my humble opinion, the Wilder Ranch backcountry is one of the most beautiful places to hike in the entire bay area. For a minimal uphill effort, you're almost immediately rewarded with huge ocean views, gorgeous big sky, rolling hills, forests, streams, and wildflowers. It's impossible to be unhappy here.

You're looking for a large plastic jar hidden on a hilltop between the Wilder Ridge Loop and the Twin Oaks Trail. This area may be tick-prone when the grass is tall, so long pants are recommended. The easiest approach is from the Twin Oaks Trail -- choose any of the many animal trails and head on up. Enjoy the view of Monterey!

This cache will add a minimum of 5 miles to your "100-Mile Hike" tally if you go straight up and back from the nearest entrance on Highway 1. There are a number of different loops you can do to get you to this point that will add distance and caches to your hike. Make sure to note the keyword for the 100-Mile Hike final. It's in the logbook and on the lid of the cache container.

Wilder Ranch hours are sunrise to sunset. Happy hunting!
