Geocache Description:

"Valley Head"

"A cache by Over-the-Hill-Gang N 35° 42.332 W 086° 11.819
UTM: 16S E 572642 N 3951585"

"Ample parking, mostly level terrain, maybe a few loose rocks in places and the usual summertime "critters"

"A very beautiful view from here of the hills and valley below. Breathtaking in the Spring and Fall. Plenty of room for taking a break, having a picnic, or just exploring. This valley was one of the 1st parts of the county, to be settled by white men, The ancient Sageley cabin, built around 1784, was said to be the earliest home in the county. It was located just below you, before old age and vandals finally did it in, a few years ago. Only a few stones in the family cemetery, remain."

"You are looking for a regular cammoed container, currently containing log only, but room for a few small trade items. BYOP. Stealth probably not required, but don't be surprised if a friendly neighbor stops to check on you and offer to lend a hand."

Description was taken from their cache page, that I last hunted, belonging to Over-the-Hill-Gang. I only changed the size in their written description to not confuse anyone.

Just a tribute cache for Joanna & Jess Lewis. I always enjoyed their locations and usually a history lesson on that area. I am just going to use my log from our 7,000th Cache find as my tribute. Please feel free to add any memories you may have of these 2. But most of all,, have fun geocaching and be safe. Always remember, "The Cache & Coords all ok "

TFTC! 7000th cache find right here today. Came by yesterday to no avail. Wanted to use this cache as my milestone in remembrance of Jess as part of the Over-the-Hill-Gang. Started seeing their name on logs when we started Caching or just the initials, OTHG. Was beat out to many a First to Finds by them. A friendly cache enemy was born. Always seeing the comments, Cache and coords all ok  or try these coords and then he would share what he had in his logs. Finally met up with them at some events and a friendship started. You just had to get to know them and figure him out. Joanna is the nicer of the two. Well ole Jess was a pretty good one also. Jess passed away April 12, 2017. This is my way of recognizing him. I think this particular Cache may have been one of the last few Caches that was hidden. A list was made of his hides and my choices where narrowed down greatly. Only 13 of their caches we had not found. This particular cache seemed to fit the bill with a good difficulty rating. It lived up to that aspect as well. Not sure what will become of their hides but would adopt any and all, because they have a lot of great hides. Gonna miss aggravating and picking at Jess at meetings. Thanks for being a friend to me Jess and Joanna....... Cache & Coords all ok . Thanks for all the caches you have hidden and maintained over the years. Happy Caching!
