This Fincantieri is one of the biggest shipyards worldwide, employing thousands of workers of any nationality everyday since the end of the XIX century.
Right next to the entrance there's a museum with models of the cruise ships that've been built there like the transatlantic Vulcania, the great Micoperi 7000, the Toti submarine, the Carnival Destiny, the Crown Princess, the Costa Venezia, the next MSC Seashore in 2021... There's also a moving corridor dedicated to the many who died of cancer due to the presence of asbestos in all the buildings.
All around the shipyard grows a whole characteristic village where the workers lived and there's an hotel called Nuovo Albergo Operai, built after the first world war and just partly restored to its beauty after half a century of neglect, as it had been bombed down during the second world war. It used to have 700 beds of which only 45 rooms along the facade are used at the moment.
The hotel itself has offered to house the cache.
In the cache there's an envelope with a small prize for every geocacher who manages to find it. Don't be shy and use it. You're welcome.
Questo stabilimento di Fincantieri è uno dei più grandi cantieri navali del mondo, ospitando migliaia di lavoratori di ogni nazionalità, dalla fine dell'800.
Proprio a fianco all'entrata c'è un museo con modelli di navi da crociera e non che sono state costruite a Monfalcone come il transatlantico Vulcania, la grande Micoperi 7000, il sottomarino Toti, la Carnival Destiny, la Crown Princess, la recente Costa Venezia, la prossima MSC Seashore nel 2021... C'è anche un commovente corridoio dedicato ai molti morti di cancro per la presenza di amianto in tutti gli edifici.
Attorno al cantiere cresce un caratteristico villaggio che venne costruito apposta per gli operai e c'è anche un albergo chiamato Nuovo Albergo Operai, costruito dopo la prima guerra mondiale e recentemente ristrutturato dopo mezzo secolo di rovina, essendo stato bombardato durante la seconda guerra mondiale. In origine aveva 700 posti letto di cui solo 45 stanze rimangono al momento, disposte lungo la facciata.
Lo stesso albergo si è offerto di badare alla cache.
Nella cache c'è una busta con un piccolo premio per ogni geocacher che riesca a trovarla, non siate timidi e usatela. È un piacere.
