James and Sallie Dooley, residents of Maymont, were great philanthropists. Besides donating their land and mansion to the City of Richmond to create the Maymont park and museum, they also donated the funds to build a hospital at the Medical College of Virginia, $3,000,000 to St. Joseph's Orphanage, $500,000 to the Crippled Children’s Hospital, $500,000 to the Richmond Public Library, and $250,000 to the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia.
Sallie Dooley, a student of horticulture, loved all aspects of nature. I wonder if she would enjoy Geocaching? This cache may be her final gift to the people (or at least the Geocachers) of Richmond.
Note: I noticed an animal trap near GZ. It seems to have been there a while. I would stay clear.
