Traditional cache in Stewart-Wheeler Memorial Park, but slightly in the rough. During games played there should be no problems with muggles. You might attract unwanted attention at night when the park is not in use. Day should not be a problem.
In elementary school, during baseball season, we were always wanting to find a baseball field. After a couple of years, we found the joys of little league baseball. During those times, we didn’t have the distractions generally provided by technology today. We had our dreams of being like Mantle or Maris and hitting it Out Of The Park. Those were different times, and we loved our baseball. Today, there continues to be demand for youth baseball, but it doesn’t seem quite the same.
This cache will take you to the new baseball park in Bibb County. The Stewart-Wheeler Memorial Park opened for play in March 2014 and was publicly dedicated on May 17, 2014. The 39 acre site donated to the City by Patricia Wheeler (Surviving Spouse of Alec Wheeler) is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 82 and Alabama State Route 219. Four youth baseball fields have been established, with plans for other playground areas, and multi-use recreational trails. This park upgrades Shane William’s Memorial Park which only had a couple of youth baseball fields.
You should approach this cache from the parking lot of the park. To get to the park, you should proceed to the entrance coordinates that are listed below. Please be careful as you approach the coordinates for the cache as the terrain is rather rough. Be aware of the possibility of the usual pests that we have here in Alabama: snakes, mosquitos, etc.
🥇Congratulations to Papa Bear 204 for FTF.
