Geocache Description:

This is a field puzzle. The posted coords do not bring you to the actual container, but to the cemetery entrance. Your quest begins here at historic Monroe Street Cemetery in Ohio City. But before you begin, a little history

Brooklyn Township bought six acres in 1836 for burial grounds. Ohio City, once part of Brooklyn Township, became its own city and acquired the cemetery with it. The city of Cleveland eventually annexed Ohio City and the cemetery was renamed Monroe Street Cemetery. Now a little over 13 acres, there are over 31,000 who rest here. Five hundred of them served in the armed forces and in wars as far back as the American Revolution. Some people of importance buried here include an abolistionist before and during the civil war, Two mayors of Cleveland (you'll visit one of them), four mayors of ohio city, and the first Cleveland police officer killed in the line of duty. More information can be found here: https://clevelandhistorical.org/items/show/476

Cemetery hours are dawn until dusk. Enjoy the many interesting features, history, and stones here, but as always be respectful. The posted coords bring you to the entrance of the cemetery. The next set bring you to your first stage. You need to get information at each stage to get the final coords. Your final coords look like this: N 41° 28.ABC W 081° 42.DEF

Stage 1: Your first stop is the memorial stone for The Piano Man. He is not interred here, but I found this memorial interesting. In order to get the number you need, take the last digit of his birth year and the last digit of his death year and add them together. This will be your answer for C.

Stage 2: Take a very short walk to the Gar Memorial. As mentioned before, there are a good number of service people buried here. This section I found cool as it highlights soldiers of the Civil War. Find the stone of Frank W. Nichols. Find the only number located before the words Mass Inf. The first digit of this number is your answer for letter E.

Stage 3: Now it's time to visit a former Ohio City mayor who also became the first mayor of Cleveland after Cleveland took ownership of Ohio City. Meet William B. Castle. Take a moment to read the sign about his accomplishments. In order to get the number you need here, find the year he became a trustee of the city's waterworks. The last digit of that year is your answer for A.

Stage 4: As you continue your tour you may notice all the unique stones that fill the cemetery. You will now find yourself at one of the most uinque. As you read the information board nearby, you will find that this is a very fine sandstone with high quality craftsman ship and the only kind of it found here. The person buried here is one of the first. Addeline Pelton was her name. Take a moment to read about her and her tragic end. In order to get the number you seek, find her birth year and look at the last digit. This is your answer for F.

Stage 5: Continue along until you come to this section where the woodsmen of the world call home. I found this section interesting because I've never came across a section dedicated to lumberjacks before. You are looking for the stone of Andrew Gedeon. Find the year of his birth. The last digit of this year is your answer for D.

Stage 6: This is your last stop on the mini tour before you hunt for the cache. Before you is a headstone made of white bronze. These are extremely rare as they were only popular during a short period of time. It is quite beautiful and it's too bad more headstones aren't made from it. Examine the stone and find the details for Franz H. Fahle. Look at the full date of his death and find the day. Take the first digit of that day. This will be your answer for B.

Now that you have completed your mini tour go find the cache! There's plenty more to see here so if you have the time, take a look around. But again, be respectful. Good luck!
