Once upon a time there was a novice cacher who only had a few hundred finds, and that cacher went to hide a cache. When it was submitted, she was notified by a reviewer that it was too close to a nearby mystery cache owned by Mudrock1. So she decided to be smart and sassy and went and had a look for that mystery cache that she knew was nearby, even though she hadn't solved the puzzle and didn't know exactly where the cache was hidden. And do you know what? By some stroke of luck, she actually found that cache!! She felt a little guilty about this however, and contacted Mudrock1 about it, and he said he didn't mind. These two cachers had not met in person at this time, but a few weeks later they met during a group caching expedition, and soon became good friends.
Fast forward 6 years, and that novice cacher now has several thousand finds under her belt, and Mudrock1 is galavanting around the Great Caching Grounds in the Sky, having passed away from cancer just over a year ago. That once-novice cacher remembers her old caching buddy fondly, and still misses him and thinks of him often. In fact, she had adopted many of his caches after he passed, including the puzzle cache that she never did solve (and actually never knew how to solve for that matter!) Knowing that Mudrock1 was looking down on her and encouraging her to create new caches so that local cachers could collect new smileys, she archived that pesky puzzle cache that had once blocked her hide all those years ago. She sure hopes that Mudrock1 would understand, as he was always complaining that there were no new caches coming out for him to find in order to keep up his streak with. And now, here it is, almost 7 years later - the cache that almost never was, in memory of Mudrock1. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.
