Geocache Description:

Bring your own pen to sign the log

Enjoy the view of lovely Lake James. Lake James is a beautiful man-made lake with over 300 acres of water at an average depth of 12 feet. Lake James is made up of many fingers offering nearly 10 miles of shoreline. There are 12 private lakefront parks and one off-shore park provided for the use of property owners and their guests. Moosehead Park, on the southwest side of the lake, is a large secure area for the launching of boats.

The development of the lake started in 1960 - Jim Cole, the lake builder, started excavating for the artificial lake in August 1960. The developers predicted that the Lake James lakefront residential area would bring hundreds of new summer and year-around residents to Houghton Lake.

The lake is feed by Denton Creek through Shadow lake and then exits into Houghton Lake via Denton Creek.

This is my first geocache hide, so I'm not making this overly complicated and will learn from the experience.
