In time of Corona you may follow all the instructions of the listing virtually using Google Street View. This way no need to visit live all the tour stops to calculate the final's coordinates. Only for signing the logbook you should schedule a visit on Crete as soon as the Corona crisis is behind us.
We spent the last night "virtually" under a clear starry sky on the beach in Balos. Now we're off to Chania. Although there are still some beautiful beaches along the way, we drive non-stop back into civilization and sit at waypoint A at the Venetian port of Chania in our favorite café.
On our virtual tour in Chania, we basically stroll around the harbor. Anyone who actually comes to Chania as a geocacher will be guided very nicely through the town following the instructions of the multi-cache «Chania (GC8E470)» - owned by schnaffels. At the port exit is the first station of this multi-cache next to the red house, which you can see in the second picture I took at waypoint B in the early morning.
Just a few steps away, at waypoint C, I took the photo of the Hasan Pasha Mosque, which was built in 1645 as the first mosque in Crete. It was used as a place of prayer until 1923, when the Turks and Greeks exchanged populations and the Turks left the island of Crete. Then it was used successively as a warehouse, folk art museum, tourist information office and as the archaeological museum of Chania. Today it is an exhibition space.
On a walk across the pier to the lighthouse, you always have wonderful views of the city and to the mountain range Lefka Ori, the White Mountains, beyond. In January, when I took the photo, the mountains live up to their name. At waypoint D you have a beautiful view of the seven surviving Venetian Arsenals (shipyards) that were built in the 16th century.
Time to eat! We drive to a suburb in the east of Chania to the Thalassino Argeri tavern. Without the geocache, which again the GC team schnaffels has hidden at waypoint E, we would never have sat on the terrace of this unique fish tavern and enjoyed the view over the city to the Venetian harbor in the distance.
Back in the city, after sunset, we experienced a spectacular optical installation in which imaginative moving images were projected onto the facade of the ancient building at waypoint F using lasers.

Die letzte Nacht verbrachten wir „virtuell“ unter klarem Sternenhimmel am Strand von Balos. Jetzt machen wir uns auf nach Chania. Obwohl an der Strecke noch einige schöne Strände liegen, fahren wir nonstop zurück in die Zivilisation und setzen uns bei Wegepunkt A am Venzianischen Hafen von Chania in unser Lieblings-Café.
Auf unserer virtuellen Tour in Chania werden wir uns im Wesentlichen rund um den Hafen herumtreiben. Wer als Geocacher real nach Chania kommt, kann sich der Reiseleitung vom GC-Team schnaffels anvertrauen. Mit ihrem Multi «Chania (GC8E470)» werdet Ihr sehr schön durch die Stadt geführt. In der Nähe des roten Hauses an der Hafenausfahrt liegt die erste Station dieses Multis, das Ihr auf dem zweiten Bild seht, das ich am Wegepunkt B am frühen Morgen aufgenommen habe.
Nur ein paar Schritte entfernt, am Wegepunkt C, entstand das Foto der Hasan-Pascha-Moschee, die bereits 1645 als erste Moschee auf Kreta errichtet wurde. Bis 1923 die Türken im Rahmen des Bevölkerungsausstauschs von Türken und Griechen die Insel Kreta verließen, diente sie als Gebetsstätte. Danach wurde sie nacheinander als Lagerplatz, Volkskunstmuseum, Touristeninformationsbüro und als Archäologisches Museum von Chania genutzt. Heute ist es ein Ausstellungsraum.
Auf einem Spaziergang über die Mole zum Leuchtturm habt Ihr immer wieder herrliche Blicke auf die Stadt und die dahinter liegenden Lefka Ori, die weißen Berge. Im Januar, als ich das Foto aufgenommen habe, machen die Berge ihrem Namen alle Ehre. Am Wegepunkt D habt Ihr einen schönen Blick auf die sieben noch erhaltenen Venezianischen Arsenale, die im 16. Jahrhundert für den Schiffsbau errichtet wurden.
Zeit etwas zu essen! Wir fahren in einen Vorort im Osten von Chania zur Taverne Thalassino Argeri. Ohne den Geocache, den auch wieder das GC-Team schnaffels am Wegepunkt E versteckt hat, hätten wir nie auf der Terrasse dieser einzigartigen Fischtaverne gesessen und den Blick über die Stadt zum Venezianischen Hafen in der Ferne genossen.
Zurück in der Stadt erlebten wir nach Sonnenuntergang eine spektakuläre optische Installation, bei der mit Lasern fantasievolle bewegte Bilder auf die Fassade des antiken Gebäudes an Wegepunkt F projiziert wurden.
Wenn Ihr Euch an den sechs oben genannten Wegepunkten virtuell umschaut, werdet Ihr leicht sechs Bilder identifizieren können, die oben im englischen Listing bzw. in der Bildergalerie zu sehen sind. Dort findet Ihr auch das Rechenblatt das Euch zu den Finalkoordinaten führt.

Σε περιόδους Corona, μπορείτε να ακολουθήσετε όλες τις οδηγίες αυτής της περιγραφής με το Google Street View, έτσι μην χρειάζεται να είστε πραγματικά στην περιοχή για να υπολογίσετε τις συντεταγμένες του φινάλε. Απλώς πρέπει να αναβάλλετε την υπογραφή του ημερολογίου μέχρι την ημέρα που πραγματικά θα ταξιδέψετε στην Κρήτη.

Περάσαμε την τελευταία νύχτα «εικονικά» κάτω από έναν καθαρό έναστρο ουρανό στην παραλία του Μπάλου. Τώρα βγαίνουμε στα Χανιά. Αν και υπάρχουν μερικές όμορφες παραλίες στο δρόμο μας, οδηγούμε χωρίς στάση στην πόλη των Χανιών για να πίνουμε καφέ στο αγαπημένο μας καφέ στο Σημείο Διαδρομής Α στο ενετικό λιμάνι.
Στην εικονική μας βόλτα στα Χανιά, βασικά θα κολλήσουμε γύρω από το λιμάνι. Όποιος έρχεται πραγματικά στα Χανιά ως geocacher θα έχει τον τέλειο ξεναγό με το multi-cache«Chania (GC8E470)» των schnaffels που θα οδηγηθείτε πολύ όμορφα γύρω γύρω στην πόλη. Στην έξοδο του λιμανιού βρίσκεται το πρώτο στάδιο αυτού του multi-cache κοντά στο κόκκινο σπίτι, που μπορείτε να το δείτε στη δεύτερη φωτογραφεία που την πήρα στο Σημείο Διαδρομής Β νωρίς το πρωί.
Λίγα βήματα μακριά, στο Σημείο Διαδρομής C, πήρα τη φωτογραφία του Τζαμί Χασάν Πασά, που χτίστηκε το 1645 ως το πρώτο τζαμί στην Κρήτη. Λειτούργησε ως τόπος προσευχής μέχρι το 1923, όταν οι Τούρκοι και οι Έλληνες αντάλλαξαν πληθυσμούς και οι Τούρκοι έφυγαν από το νησί της Κρήτης. Στη συνέχεια χρησιμοποιήθηκε διαδοχικά ως αποθήκη, μουσείο λαϊκής τέχνης, γραφείο τουριστικών πληροφοριών και ως αρχαιολογικό μουσείο Χανίων. Σήμερα είναι ένας εκθεσιακός χώρος.
Σε μια βόλτα προς τον φάρο, έχετε πάντα υπέροχη θέα στην πόλη και στα Λευκά Όρη. Τον Ιανουάριο, όταν έβγαλα τη φωτογραφία, τα βουνά ανταποκρίνονται στο όνομά τους. Στο Σημείο Διαδρομής D έχετε μια υπέροχη θέα των επτά επιζώντων βενετσιάνικων οπλοστασίων που χτίστηκαν για ναυπήγηση τον 16ο αιώνα.
Ώρα για φαγητό! Οδηγούμε σε ένα προάστιο στα ανατολικά των Χανίων στην ταβέρνα Θαλάσσινο Αγέρι. Χωρίς το geocache, που το έκρυψαν πάλι οι schnaffels στο Σημείο Διαδρομής Ε, δεν θα καθόμασταν ποτέ στη βεράντα αυτής της μοναδικής ψαροταβέρνας και δεν θα απολαμβάναμε τη θέα στην πόλη προς το ενετικό λιμάνι.
Επιστροφή στην πόλη, μετά το ηλιοβασίλεμα, βιώσαμε μια εντυπωσιακή οπτική εγκατάσταση στην οποία προβάλλονται ευφάνταστες κινούμενες εικόνες στην πρόσοψη του αρχαίου κτηρίου με λέιζερ στο Σημείο Διαδρομής F.
Ρίξτε μια εικονική ματιά στα έξι Σημεία Διαδρομής που προαναφέρθηκαν και θα μπορείτε εύκολα να εντοπίσετε τις έξι εικόνες που τις βλέπετε στην αγγλική λίστα παραπάνω ή στην γκαλερί εικόνων. Εκεί θα βρείτε επίσης το υπολογιστικό φύλλο που θα σας οδηγήσει στις συντεταγμένες του φινάλε.
