In time of Corona you may follow all the instructions of the listing virtually using Google Street View. This way no need to visit live all the tour stops to calculate the final's coordinates. Only for signing the logbook you should schedule a visit on Crete as soon as the Corona crisis is behind us.
The small island of GAVDOS, about 40 km south of Crete, is rarely visited by geocachers "in real life". The island really has its own charm, which you can experience if you stay at least two or three days to explore the different places of the island. The island has a diameter of less than 10 km. You can also take your car with you or rent a scooter there during the season, but those who are good on foot can hike the island completely.
Two pointers for those considering a real visit:
First, look at the weather. If strong winds and swell come up, the ferry can sometimes be a few days late. So if you have to be back at a certain time, only go to the island in foreseeable calm weather.
Secondly, take enough cash with you, because we couldn't find any ATMs and you won't get very far with a credit card.
All of this is not a problem with our “Virtual Trip to Gavdos”. So you have the opportunity to look around the island, even if a real visit to the island does not fit into the travel plans.
Since google-street-view shows no pictures of Gavdos, we visit six geocaches around the island. If you study the listings of these six caches, you will get a nice impression of the island. I can therefore spare myself from repeating all of this.
Be sure to check out the spoiler images of these six caches. They are needed to calculate the final coordinates of this mystery.

Nur das Signieren des Logbuchs müsst Ihr auf den Tag verschieben, an dem Ihr real nach Kreta reisen werdet.

Die kleine Insel GAVDOS etwa 40 km südlich von Kreta wird „im richtigen Leben“ eher selten von Geocachern besucht. Dabei hat die Insel wirklich ihren eigenen Charme, den man dann erleben kann, wenn man wenigsten zwei oder drei Tage bleibt, um die verschiedenen Ecken der Insel zu erkunden. Die Insel hat einen Durchmesser von weniger als 10 km. Man kann zwar auch sein Auto mitnehmen oder dort in der Saison vermutlich einen Scooter mieten, doch wer gut zu Fuß ist, kann die Insel komplett erwandern.
Zwei Hinweise für diejenigen, die einen realen Besuch ins Auge fassen:
Erstens schaut Euch die Wetterlage an. Wenn Starkwind und Seegang aufkommt, kann die Fähre auch schon mal ein paar Tage auf sich warten lassen. Wenn Ihr also sicher zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt zurück sein müsst, fahrt nur bei absehbar ruhigem Wetter auf die Insel.
Zweitens nehmt genug Bargeld mit, denn Geldautomaten haben wir keinen gefunden und mit Kreditkarte kommt man hier auch nicht weit.
All das ist bei unserem „Virtuellen Trip nach Gavdos“ aber kein Problem. So könnt Ihr Euch auf der Insel umzusehen, auch wenn ein realer Besuch der Insel nicht in die Reisepläne passt.
Da google-street-view keine Aufnahmen von Gavdos zeigt, besuchen wir zusammen sechs Geocaches rund um die Insel. Wenn Ihr die Listings dieser sechs Caches studiert, erhaltet Ihr einen schönen Eindruck von der Insel. Ich kann mir hier daher ersparen, all das zu wiederholen.
Schaut Euch auf jeden Fall auch die Spoiler-Bilder dieser sechs Caches an. Sie werden benötigt, um die Finalkoordinaten dieses Mysteries hier zu berechnen.

Σε περιόδους Corona, μπορείτε να ακολουθήσετε όλες τις οδηγίες αυτής της περιγραφής με το Google Street View, έτσι μην χρειάζεται να είστε πραγματικά στην περιοχή για να υπολογίσετε τις συντεταγμένες του φινάλε. Απλώς πρέπει να αναβάλλετε την υπογραφή του ημερολογίου μέχρι την ημέρα που πραγματικά θα ταξιδέψετε στην Κρήτη.

Ακόμα και αν δεν υπάρχει κοροναϊός δεν πηγαίνουν πολλοί geocacher στο μικρό νησί της ΓΑΥΔΟΥ, περίπου 40 χιλιόμετρα νότια της Κρήτης. Εντάξει, υπάρχουν (Απρίλιο 2020) μόνο 11 κρύπτες σε όλο το νησί. Όμως, το νησί έχει πραγματικά τη δική του γοητεία, και αξίζει να πάτε αν μείνετε τουλάχιστον δύο ή τρεις ημέρες για να εξερευνήσετε τα διάφορα μέρη του νησιού. Το νησί έχει διάμετρο λιγότερη από 10 χλμ. Μπορείτε επίσης να πάρετε το αυτοκίνητό σας μαζί σας ή να νοικιάσετε ένα σκούτερ εκεί κατά τη διάρκεια της σεζόν, αλλά όσοι είναι καλοί με τα πόδια μπορούν να κάνουν πεζοπορία σε ολόκληρο το νησί.
Δύο συμβουλές για όσους σκέφτονται μια πραγματική επίσκεψη:
Πρώτα, κοίτα τον καιρό. Εάν εμφανιστούν ισχυροί άνεμοι και θαλασσοταραχή, το πλοίο μπορεί να καθυστερήσει μερικές ημέρες. Αν λοιπόν πρέπει να επιστρέψετε σε μια συγκεκριμένη χρονική στιγμή, πηγαίνετε στο νησί μόνο σε προβλέψιμο ήρεμο καιρό.
Δεύτερον, πάρτε αρκετά μετρητά μαζί σας, επειδή δεν μπορούσαμε να βρούμε ATM και δεν θα μπορείτε να πληρώσετε με πιστωτική κάρτα.
Όλα αυτά δεν είναι πρόβλημα με το «Εικονικό ταξίδι στην Γαύδο». Έτσι μπορείτε να κοιτάξετε γύρω στο νησί, ακόμα κι αν μια πραγματική επίσκεψη στο νησί δεν ταιριάζει στα ταξιδιωτικά σας σχέδια.
Το google-street-view δεν δείχνει φωτογραφίες της Γαύδου. Λοιπόν, θα πάμε να δούμε έξι geocaches γύρω από το νησί. Εάν διαβάσετε τις περιγραφές αυτών των έξι cache, θα έχετε μια ωραία εντύπωση για το νησί. Έτσι δεν θα επαναλάβω όλα αυτά.
Μη ξεχάσετε να δείτε τις εικόνες spoiler αυτών των έξι cache. Τμήματα αυτών των εικόνων τα βλέπετε στην αγγλική περιγραφή για τον υπολογισμό των συντεταγμένων του φινάλε αυτής της κρύπτης. Εκεί θα βρείτε επίσης το υπολογιστικό φύλλο που θα σας οδηγήσει στις συντεταγμένες του φινάλε.
