This was the 1st of 5 caches placed today to fill in the blanks along Rolla's ACORN trail system for hiking, running and biking. The system will eventually connect 9 of the city's parks. ACORN stands for A Community Organization to Restore Nature, which is one of many civic-minded organizations involved in the creation of this trail system.
Apparently this is called the Deible Loop of the trail - it runs alongside Deible creek. I saw lots of runners, bikers, and walkers on the trail today - a Wednesday afternoon - even during these "shelter-in-place" times. Pets are welcome on the trail, but they must be on a leash and please pick up after them to keep the trail clean.
As I was walking down the trail to place some caches, I spotted a little face looking out of the woods. It was a printed metal raccoon nailed to a tree. I don't know what he was doing there, but there he was! The bandit has long since disappeared, but he is memorialized by this cache!
