The cache is located in Perley Mills Community Forest, a large property of nearly 1,600 acres owned by the town of Denmark. Many land uses are permitted in this forest, but it is protected from development by a conservation easement. Walk near Pickerel Pond on the old railroad bed belonging to the Bridgton & Saco River Narrow Gauge Railroad. The railroad operated between 1882 and 1941, connecting Bridgton and Harrison to Hiram and the Mountain Division railroad. This section is now part of route 89, an important artery on the state snowmobile and all-terrain vehicle trail network. There should be plenty of room for walkers, but please give these trail users the right-of-way. After a little while, it will be necessary to leave the trail to find the cache.
Plan on clambering over some rough terrain. The cache can be found in low to medium snow, but could be covered in a high amount of snow. The parking lot is typically plowed in the winter. In the unlikely event winter logging is occurring nearby, please give a large radius.
Please note the property rules:
- No overnight parking
- No camping
- Carry in / carry out
- Kindle no fires
