This is a quick park and grab. But my reason for bringing you to this location is to check out the red barn to your west.
The Sundberg family built the 66 foot diameter round barn in 1913. The property was purchased in 1924 and is now the Erickson Century Farm.
In the early farming years the barn housed 24 Holstein milk cows, 16 horses, and 3 calf/heifer pens. As years progressed, changes were made to milk a maximum of 55 cows. The last year the round barn was used for milking cows was 1974. A bit of trivia: There are currently less than 100 round barns standing in Minnesota.
It's not too often you see round barns anymore, and not one in such good shape. This spot gives you a good vantage point; take a moment after signing the log to enjoy its beauty.
