Geocache Description:

This was multi but has been changed to a traditional cache. It is located in a nice little wooded area in the West Mt Airy section of Philadelphia.

Carpenter’s Woods is an oasis of green space situated between Sedgwick St and Mt. Pleasant Ave. It stretches from Wissahickon Ave to Greene St. The woods were named for Carpenter’s Run that meanders thru the woods and eventually empties into the Wissahickon Creek. Carpenter's Woods is considered one of the birding hot spots of the Delaware Valley. There are warblers, woodpeckers, vireos, and many other species. Bring your binoculars. Many knowledgable and friendly birders frequent this area and will help you with identification. You will also encounter dog walkers and joggers.

A trailhead is located at the Wayne Ave. bus loop on Sedgwick Street.Parking is available on Wayne Ave. and on Sedgwick St. between Henley St. and Wayne Ave. DO NOT park in the indentation which serves as the bus loop. Buses need this area to turn.
