Geocache Description:

We haven't seen too many caches around here that use decoys, but that won't stop us from using a feature that is common back in our original stomping grounds.

Although we were going to name the cache, "The Fake Lure in Lake Lure", and locate the cache in Lake Lure, it just didn't work out, for several reasons.  But, we liked the name so much, we made a few modifications, and....we're ready to go.

You will begin your search at the Bearwallow Mountain Trailhead.  This is as close to the cache as your vehicle is permitted.  Please check the waypoint for parking and trailhead coordinates. You may either walk up the gravel road (about 15 minutes) or take the hiking trail which is not as level and will take you through the mountaintop meadow before connecting to the gravel road (about 25 minutes).

If you take the hiking trail don't get distracted by the views!

At the posted coordinates you MAY find a decoy cache (or more, perhaps? devil)  If you find any decoys, please replace them as found.  The real cache is nearby. The posted coordinates are correct.

PLEASE--replace the cache EXACTLY as it was hidden. Thanks.

The terrain rating of 2.5 is for those who take the hiking path, and is done with consideration of the total distance hiked. The gravel road route is more like 1.5.

Once you find the cache, it's only an short hike up the road to the top of Bearwallow Mountain.  There you will be treated to grand long distance views in all directions and roaming livestock, in season. Even if you have been to the top before, it is well worth the extra few minutes.

Enjoy and don't get faked out!
