Bigfoot or Sasquatch are said to be hairy, upright-walking, ape-like creatures that dwell in the wilderness and leave footprints. Depictions often portray them as a missing link between humans and human ancestors or other great apes. They are strongly associated with the Pacific Northwest, particularly Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Northern California. Individuals have claimed to see the creatures all across North America over the years.

One of the most iconic photo of a Bigfoot!
Normally Saskatchewan is not a hotbed of Bigfoot sightings but there’s has been a few sightings of the creature. Here are a few of the sightings:
A family was driving near Craven in 2014 when saw an unidentifiable, hairy biped walking in the ditch. A video has been uploaded to YouTube. It shows the top half of a brown figure walking slowly into the trees and disappearing.
Another video had been uploaded to YouTube of a hairy, upright biped that was spotted in Greenwater Provincial Park.
A couple driving on Highway 5 toward Saskatoon spotted a black creature running across the road on two legs. At first they thought it was a bear, but then realized bears don’t run on two legs.
In 2006 a motorist was driving from Deschambault Lake to Prince Albert when she saw a hairy biped walking by the side of the road. It turned to look at her as she drove by. The next day they found large footprints.
Since the 1970s, Rockglen, Sask., has been the site of many Bigfoot-like sightings. Local residents refer to the creature as Zoobie or Zoobs. Zoobie is said to stand between 8 and 10 feet tall with a high voice and a skunk-like odor.
In 2005, a man hunting near Wakaw reported to Sasquatch Canada that he was driving home in the rain after a hunting trip when he went into the ditch. He got out to go find help, and saw a creature moving very quickly down the road away from him. He describes it as not very tall, but wide, with no neck, short legs, and long arms. After the creature disappeared, he found a footprint he said was about 16 inches long and 5-6 inches across. He never told anybody for fear they would think he was crazy.
There have been many other sightings as well in the province. So it will be only a matter of time before Bigfoot will show up in the Regina area. Deer meat is one of their favorite meals and there is a lot of deer here on the White Butte Trails. So when in the area, Be Alert!
