To quote the description by the owner of the first cache I ever found, "Just an educational stop to learn about the area with this park & grab" - but you may want to have a picnic while you are at it!
Another cache between the two hydropower sites is being placed for the August 13, 2022 Sesquicentennial Celebration on the River - please consider joining us that day! Don't hesitate to ask for more details via private message to the cache owner.
I couldn't get the coordinates to stand still, for whatever reason - so once you get close, make sure to go where you can get the best view of the crane that rakes the hydro trash-racks, and THEN reach up.
I placed my first geocache at the hydroelectric generating facility that I own in Piermont, NH before I moved to work at Sandy Hollow hydro, the downstream of two hydroelectric generating facilities in Philadelphia, NY. Upon arrival in NY, I placed my 3rd geocache, the second in my hydroelectric series, the Spirit of Hydro downstream of the Sandy Hollow hydro. This is the 3rd geocache in this series (and my 3rd cache in this area, the other being my bird-themed Flew Away Home between the two in this series).
Upon my return to my new home, after a planned 10-day trip/absence morphed into a COVID-19 staycation in Manassass, Virginia of more than 6 weeks, my colleague and I had our take-out-only lunch at the picnic tables located immediately upstream of the upstream hydroelectric where there is a feature identical to where I found my first cache ever, just across the river from New Hampshire in Vermont. I immediately decided to place my own identical cache container, and as I went back to review the details of the Vermont cache, I discovered that the individual who introduced me to the details of geocaching had been the last visitor to this cache, on the same day that he visited my first cache!
