Geocache Description:

With two young daughters, our lives are filled with things that are colorful and bright! To spread the joy, A and C present this series of rainbow-themed caches. Each cache in the series is assigned a number, and each cache also represents one color of the rainbow. You'll find the number for this cache below. Find the color by carefully examining the container when you make the find. You'll need the numbers and colors for each cache in the series to determine the coordinates for the final Terminus cache (GC8Q4ZZ). Military Ridge Trail is open between the hours of 6am-11pm seven days a week. Note that a trail pass is required for biking on the trail; you can purchase one at the kiosk near the suggested parking coordinates.

⚠️ Caution: Poisonous Plants Nearby in Summer! ⚠️

Based on the small blister that formed on my upper arm within days of scouting locations for this series, I am now convinced there is wild parsnip along some sections of the trail. I paid close attention when I went back to hide the containers, and despite the yellow flowers being gone by September, I believe there is some growing nearby this cache. It is very avoidable if you know what you are looking for, but I highly recommend watching the linked video to learn how to identify it, wearing long pants and/or long sleeves, and proceeding off-trail with caution.

"Some place where there isn't any trouble. Do you suppose there is such a place, Toto? There must be. It's not a place you can get to by a boat, or a train. It's far, far away. Behind the moon, beyond the rain..."

These words are spoken by Judy Garland playing the character of Dorothy Gale in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz as she laments finding a place somewhere Over the Rainbow. For such an iconic song, it's amazing to think it was almost cut from the film! That's right, an MGM executive thought it "slowed down the picture" after watching an early screening. Luckily the production team fought to keep it and won, because the song went on to become the film's most popular.

This song actually has some lyrics you might not have hard before. An introductory verse beginning "When all the world is a hopeless jumble..." was omitted from the film, but is sometimes used in theatrical productions as well as by several other popular performers putting their own spin on the song. Lyrics for a second verse beginning "Once by a word only lightly spoken..." also appeared in the British edition of the sheet music.

While Judy Garland's version is probably the most popular, the song has been covered by many others including Eva Cassidy, Frank Sinatra, P!nk, Eric Clapton, Patti LaBelle, and Trisha Yearward just to name a few. But my personal favoriate has to be the Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World ukulele medley sung by Israel (Iz) Kamakawiwo'ole. This one has a great story, too. Apparently Iz called the recording studio spur of the moment at 3am when they were shutting down for the night. He was given 15 minutes to arrive, then played this song in a single take!

The number for this cache is 1!
