VCCGT: “The Story” of Autumnwood Park Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

iplay: Unfortunately, this is the third muggling of this cache, and this is the fourth container to go missing. While the pencils shown in the last log were not from the cache, the cache container is definitely gone. We searched the woods but there was no sign of it. This is a busy park, but one we really wanted to show-off as part of the GeoTour. The high muggle activity and limited hiding spots have been a challenge. It had a good run and a lot of happy cachers visited this cool neighborhood park. Thank you!

Cache Info.

“The Story” of Autumnwood Park changes all the time!  That’s because, “The Story” is the “The Story Walk,” which was installed in 2019, the first of its kind in the State College Area.

Through a cooperative endeavor between the Schlow Centre Region Library, Centre Region Parks and Recreation, the Centre Foundation, and the Centre County Library and Historical Museum, the “Story Walk” of Centre County was created.  There is a second “Story Walk located at Tri-Municipal Park in Centre Hall, and a third “Story Walk” will soon be developed.

The stories rotate across the “Story Walks” every so often.  Start with Panel #1 and stroll to each numbered panel and read through each page of the children’s story!  Exercise your body and your mind at the same time!  “The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.  StoryWalk is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

Enjoy this wonderful community park as its trail meanders through the park’s edges connecting the neighborhood through several different entrances.  There is a great playground here, a wonderful walking trail, soccer field, and basketball court.  The small pavilion is also a great stop for some shade during the hot summer months!

This cache is available during regular park hours from dawn to dusk.  There is no need to bushwack to the cache; please stay on the trails.  At certain times of the year, stealth will be necessary to grab this cache.  Cache is placed with permission of Centre Region Parks and Recreation, Permit #CRPR-2020-05-03.

Please bring a stylus; this container has room only for a logbook and a few small trinkets.  9/6/2020:  There is a new container and a new ending location due to the original container being muggled.  The new area is less of a play location than the original site.

Once at the posted coordinates, take a quick rest. To get the final location’s coordinates, take the first and last number in the year this Memorial Bench was presented and add them together and plug your answer into A; add all of the numbers together in the year this Memorial Bench was presented, and plug your answer into B.
