Heading towards Cottonwood Falls, KS, to do some some fishing at the couinty lake this awesome Spring day in May 2020, while dodging corona-cooties. Have traveled this route numerous times in the past and always thought that a cache hidden at this location would be a good idea, but would never have any type of container with me. Today, remembered about this spot and finally placed something.
Anyway, in order to get to this cache, just travel north/south on KS Hwy 177 on the south side of the town of Council Grove, KS. Cache is roughly 3 miles or so south of town and there is an area to pull safely pull off the highway and away from traffic.
There is a SCULPTURE ON THE HILL on the east side of KS Hwy 177 which depicts a cowboy on horseback chasing after a cow while twirling a lasso above his head. Always thought that that was a neat sculpture. It can clearly be seen while driving along the highway while traveling both north/south. However, where the cache is placed, you are unable to see the sculpture unless you go across the highway and climb that Kansas mountain - I went to the extreme south end where the terrain is not as steep and not as mush debris/rocks to climb through.
You should be searching for a PILL BOTTLE with a secondary container inside to help protect the log from the elements.
Be forewarned: there are pieces BARB WIRE strewn about the immediate area and easily hidden in the tall grass. Tried to clear out as much of those pieces as possible, but am sure did not get them all - you have been warned!!May be an easy find some while others may be little more difficult.
