THIS EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE LISTED COORDINATES, WHERE I HAVE RESERVED THE PAVILION.
I will have free cold bottled water (in a cooler with ice) for attendees.
Come join your host Glenn for a Community Celebration Event at Memorial Park in Woodland Park. By "Community Celebration" I mean that I am celebrating the community -- by giving away free stuff ! Community Celebration Events were first awarded to cachers in 2020, and then COVID reared its ugly head. Many events were postponed, and the deadline to hold events was extended. Now that COVID is making itself known again, I am holding this event NOW before things get worse (hopefully they won't, but I err on the side of caution). With COVID becoming more prevalent once again, I have no problem stating that I -- your host -- received both doses of the Moderna vaccine in March. To minimize interaction by attendees, this will be a geocaching event unlike most others; I expect event attendees to be at the pavilion for a very short period of time. I do not expect a gathering but I WILL BE THERE FROM 9am to 11am.
Glenn WILL BE at the posted coordinates for the minimum event time of two hours but with any and all geocaching events, you do not have to stay from start to finish. There will be a logsheet for you to sign and you WILL get SOMETHING for free ! Yes -- FREE !!! As with all 3 Williams Kidz events, there is NOTHING to buy, not even raffle tickets (because there isn't a raffle) but you will get something geocaching related at no cost. There will not be narration or a set time for giving away stuff or anything like that. Arrive, greet the host (that's me), sign the logsheet if you wish (signing the log is optional), get something related to geocaching and you are on your way.
This is a very nice park with a small lake, picnic tables (that may all be taken, except the one that I will be reserving) and a playground for the youngsters.
Listed coordinates are for a COVERED pavilion (in case it rains).
FREE STUFF: Based on the number of cachers that log "Will Attend", I will have containers of different sizes (all new, from the geocaching.com online shop) with logs and pencils, new and unactivated trackables, geocaching lanyards for your handheld GPS or badges at work if you have those, a few other miscellaneous items AND -- there will be TWO "grand prizes" -- a one year Premium Membership to geocaching (extension if you are already a Premium Member) and a one year subscription to FTF Geocacher magazine (extension if you already subscribe).
How to conduct a fair giveaway: Say 15 people log "Will Attend". At the event, I will have a deck of cards. I get two aces and 13 other cards, not aces. YOU see all the cards. Then, they get turned over and mixed up. YOU pick a card. If you draw an ace, you win a grand prize ! If you draw any card other than an ace, you pick from the containers, trackables, lanyards, etc. After you draw your card, you get to see all the cards to ensure everything is legit (my kids taught me that one -- legit). Then, that card is removed, leaving 14 for the next event attendee, and the process repeats.
I will have more items to give away than the number of "Will Attend" log entries, so that if the cards run out, those who show up still get something for free.
Looking forward to seeing cachers there !
