Little Bennett Day Use Area Community Celebration Event

Saturday, October 08, 2022        0800 - 1000

Another Community Celebration for "ALL" geocachers to celebrate 20 years of geocaching. This event is open to "ALL" geocachers. Doesn't matter if you've been geocaching the 20 years, or if you've only been geocaching 20 days. 20,000 finds, or just 2 finds, you're still welcomed to join. The event will be 2 hours long, but you can enjoy the park for as long as you want, or even just stop by for a quick hello. There are picnic tables in the area, but no pavilions, so let's pray for good weather. There is a porta potty located at this location.

The waypoints have posted coordinates for the entrance to the parking lot. There is no playground at this location, but there are plenty of geocaches throughout the park, and a couple of Adventure Lab Caches in the area. As for travel bugs, bring them if you want. Any which do not get picked up, I will bring them back to my travel bug hotel. I'll have plenty of water and some small snacks for those who are interested.

Little Bennett Regional Park is the largest natural gem of Montgomery County. It lies just a few miles from Interstate 270. Spread over 3,700 acres, the park offers beautiful scenery,  a large campground, a small playground, more than a dozen historic sites and over 25 miles of scenic natural surface trails. Little Bennett Regional Park also features an 18-hole golf course, operated by MCG.

Explore the park’s many natural wonders by foot, mountain bike, or horseback on over 25 miles of natural surface trails. Be sure to be on the lookout for the eastern bluebird and timberdoodle if your journey through our forests, meadows, and streams takes you through the wetland area on the Western Piedmont Trail.

In addition to an abundance of native plants and animals, this park features 14 historical sites and points of interest – including the Hyattstown Mill and the one-room Kingsley School House – which preserve the memories of rural life in Montgomery County through the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.

Here is a link to the trails located throughout the park. Give it a few seconds to load completely:
