Geocache Description:

31 December 2021, 11:00 - 13:00

[12/18/2021 Update:  Location change to provide a warm, indoor meeting environment - see updates this date and after in the logs below]

Where: The Steer Inn Restaurant (108 Foster Road, Mannford, OK 74044) - no purchase necessary to attend, but please RSVP if you plan to attend by December 29, if possible, so we can advise the restaurant how many will be in our group so they can staff appropriatately.

... and here it is, the last date to set a Community Celebration Event celebrating 20 years of geocaching.  What a couple of years, eh?  Stop by for a bit of fellowship with other geocachers, earn a smiley (and, likely, an end of the year virtual souvenir), and then there are any number of exciting activities you can pursue close by to say, "Good-bye 2021!" :

≈ Grab Oklahoma's oldest active geocache, Where Eagles Roost (GC272) - placed February 11, 2001, nearby.  If you have never Found it, why not?  End-the-year-with-a-smiley-here.  If you have found it before, consider celebrating the new year by sending out a new trackable from the cache.

≈ Grab Oklahoma's third oldest active geocache, Appalachia (GC87A) - placed May 3, 2001 - cache can be reached by kayak; or, for a small fee, it can be accessed on foot, or by ATV, from the Appalachia Bay Recreation Area to the northwest.

≈ Feel free to bring your excess geocaching gear, containers, and/or trackables to trade with others in a mini "Swap Meet" at the event.  (In most cases, local cachers are just begging to give stuff away.  So even if you can't bring anything to trade away, you still might walk away with a few fun something(s)!)

≈ Enjoy the beautiful area around the Lake; venture into Tulsa where you can grab two more of the state's oldest geocaches; or find a warm, cozy spot nearby at which you and other geocaching friends can enjoy a warm drink and tell tales of caching through COVID over the last year and a half!
