Geocache Description:

Welcome to Chanco's Grant! This themed container was placed in 2020 on Cinqo de Mayo to commemorate the Mexican Army's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862.  This cache is at the entrance of the Chanco's Grant neighborhood. Park on the south side of William Bedford Rd for a short walk, or you can access the back of the neighborhood from the beautiful Powhatan Creek Trail.

Chanco, who the neighborhood was named after, is a name traditionally assigned to a native American who is said to have warned a Jamestown colonist, Richard Pace, about an impending Powhatan attack in 1622.
