Geocache Description:

Tokyo Eki Stamp Series (東京駅スタンプシリーズ)

Tokyo is a city blessed with what is often dubbed as the best public transportation system in the world. Tokyo's train and subway network is unrivalled - spotless, quiet and almost always on time.

Most Japan Railway stations have something in common, a unique stamp reflecting that station's history. Kids and train nerds often buy cute little books to collect the stamps of all the stations they've been to. In this series, we take a deeper look at the network that kept me moving in the half a year I spent in Tokyo, through the lens of train station stamps!

JR Chuo Line (Rapid) (中央線快速)

The JR Chuo Line (Rapid) designation applies to the Eastern end of the Chuo Main Line, between Tokyo and Takao. The Rapid services do not stop at some stations between Ochanomizu and Nakano (which are covered by the Chuo-Sobu Line (Local) service, hence the designation.

While the Rapid services are the most common type of service, there are also some other special rapid services operating on the Chuo Line (Rapid). These services include the likes of: Chuo Special Rapid (中央特快) and Ome Special Rapid (青梅特快); Commuter Rapid (通勤快速) and Commuter Special Rapid (通勤特快); and Holiday Rapid (ホリデー快速). Some Musashino trains also run onto the line. Some trains also extend beyond Takao and spur onto other lines. As of March 2020, there are no longer any local designation Chuo Line (Rapid) services.
