Tokyo Eki Stamp Series (東京駅スタンプシリーズ)
Tokyo is a city blessed with what is often dubbed as the best public transportation system in the world. Tokyo's train and subway network is unrivalled - spotless, quiet and almost always on time.
Most Japan Railway stations have something in common, a unique stamp reflecting that station's history. Kids and train nerds often buy cute little books to collect the stamps of all the stations they've been to. In this series, we take a deeper look at the network that kept me moving in the half a year I spent in Tokyo, through the lens of train station stamps!
JR Keiyo Line (京葉線)
The JR Keiyo Line runs from Tokyo to Chiba running parallel to the edge of Tokyo Bay. It stops at key stations like Maihama - home to one of the world’s most famous theme park resorts and Kaihimmakuhari – home to an exhibition centre and stadium which host major events drawing people from across the world. The Line runs between Tokyo Station, at an underground platform and Soga Station.
There are four key services on the line: the Keiyō Line Local service – stopping all stations between Tokyo and Soga; the Keiyo Line Rapid service – stopping at Tokyo, Hatchobori, Shin-Kiba, Maihama, Shin-Urayasu, Minami-Funabashi, Kaihimmakuhari, and all stops to Soga; the Commuter Rapid service – stopping only at Tokyo, Hatchōbori, Shin-Kiba, and Soga; and Musashino Line Local services – which either run all stops Tokyo to Nishi-Funabashi before continuing on the Musashino Line or from Kaihimmakuhari to Minami-Funabashi before contuining on the Musashino Line.
