15 Minutes Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Red314: I went to my cache & can’t find the log. The tree that it was hidden in is not in great shape & I would rather that it be left alone. It was a cool idea & had fun with it. 🌲🥫

Geocache Description:

PLEASE HIDE this cache when you are finished logging it. The log container is an old tube of lipstick, you twist the base to make the log come out. Don't put the log back in the cap, I know that's the opposite, but hey, I thought it was a cool idea.

Andy Warhol once said, "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes". Now I don't know about that, but, it might take you 15 minutes to complete this task and get back to your car.

Andy was an exceptionally gifted illustrator and writer in the early part of his career. He was also a devout Catholic that attended mass daily (who knew?). Andy became popular during a time when Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, and other abstract expressionist artists were at their peak. Maybe that is why his work resonated with people; they didn't have to think about what they were looking at and he challenged the very definition of art. Um, why are we looking at 99 identical replicas of a Campbell's Soup can...is this really art? His answer was yes.

He wanted to be famous, and you can't be famous without being bold. He used bright colors, repetition, and iconic people in his portraits that already fascinated our American culture, like Marilyn Monroe and Elvis. And what really ticked off other artists at that time was his ability to mass-produce his work using silk-screening techniques. While they slaved over a painting that could take months to complete, he was able to churn out enough to fill galleries and adjust his color palette along the way. His style was/is instantly recognizable and could be bought at a fraction of the cost of his fellow artists. You can't get famous without famous friends. He blew away the notion of a starving artist, alone in their studio. Andy created The Factory where he invited people to hang out while he worked. Mick Jagger, Madonna, Velvet Underground, David Bowie, and more helped to create this music, dance, and drug-influenced studio/environment for him to reign over. So why a Cambell's Soup can? It was his mother's choice for many a lunch when he was growing up in Pittsburgh and he loved her dearly. He figured, why not?

OK -- If you like your car and want to keep it in one piece, do not park close to the cache on Loughborough; there is not enough room to pull over safely. Park closer to Gravois near the 4 family flats, or down the street in the small shopping plaza. Hence the name of the cache.  Take a stroll and ponder the time, solitude, and loss we have lived through in the past couple of months at GZ. Please bring a writing utensil and SWAG! I want this one to be fun, it's perfect for kids & TBs. HIDE IT WELL after logging, geoflage is perfect. Please no photos of container.

Did I mention that when I placed it 2 months ago there was no poison ivy? I will be taking care of that soon and should not stop the fun.
