Geocache Description:

The Kabi language is reported to have been used by aboriginal inhabitants of South East Queensland in an area from Redcliffe to Fraser Island. The Kabi people in the Redcliffe Caboolture area were the Undanbi. UIndanbi means “those who say dan or dunn for black man.”

The most southerly clan of the Undanbi were the Ningy Ningy – a name which means oysters. The group migrated frequently between Toorbul Point and Redcliffe. Flinders visited the Ningy Ningy area at Contarf Point in 1799 and observed inside aboriginal huts a fishing net twenty four metres long and on reefs nearby several fishing traps were located.

King John Creek is most likely named after a local aboriginal know as King Johnny Boat of Deception Bay. Photographs of King Johnny appear in Thomas Bancroft’s collection taken in the late 1890’s.

You will have passed some unusual dwellings on the way to this cache, some seem like they are houses, one even looks like a business.  One of the houses has been occupied by a family for over 40 years.  You will need to disembark again for this cache, as even high tide won't get you to the container.
