King John Creek is a part of the Caboolture Catchment area which is located north of Brisbane and its headwaters rising from Mount Mee. It falls within the Moreton Bay Regional Council boundary. The catchment covers approximately 468 square kilometres. There is mining and quarrying scattered across the catchment, including hard rock and sand Key Resource Areas. There are also several inactive mining areas. There is a commercial fishery (crab) along lower King John Creek. Estuarine areas also support recreational fishing.
This cache is in a lovely area easily reachable at high tide. The water flows quite strongly in here when the tide has changed, so something to tether your yak to the tree might be helpful should it dislodge from the parking spot under the tree. Watch out for the drop offs here, as it is deceptively deep and they aren't immediately obvious.
