Geocache Description:


We discovered this spot while rambling around the area during the Covid-19 lockdown, when all we could do was walk the roads for our daily exercise. A quick look at the Historic OSI maps and the Cassini 6-inch maps confirmed our thoughts, and identified the remains of a Paper Mill at the old rusty gate (near our first cache here). This is the second of a short trail we hid at this time.

The path opens out into a lovely forest walk under enormous trees. This is a very secluded area which even very few locals know exists. The walk can be a little muddy when the weather is damp, but the trees give great cover. Walk along the ambling Butlerstown River along the remains of the old mill-race and weir to your left. If you are lucky you will spot some local red squirrels and buzzards.

The cache is a bison-tube in a nice shadey spot just off the path and is easy to reach.
