The Elgin Centennial was held in the summer of 1999 and was a great weekend filled with many events, including family reunions, a fashion show showcasing the clothing on display in the local museum and a parade. I was not born into the community, but in 1999 I was engaged to a local boy so I was lucky to be able to be a part of all the fun. Please take the time to explore this little community, just recently we have been lucky enough to have a chef move back to town and open The Burning Bale, just down the street. There is also the Whitewater Park just to the east of town, which hosts the campground and the Elgin dam, where people come to fish. And the Elgin & District Museum is open on the weekends in the summer and by appointment.
