The creek that you are about to cross became a river on February 1st, 2020. All of Sumas was flooded and we went canoeing through the streets. This flood was caused by the Nooksack River breaking its levy. The town siren was sounded at 10 pm on January 31st warning the residents that the floodwaters had crossed the Badger road and the imminent waters will impact all of Sumas. Many houses in this area sandbagged their doors in an effort to hold back the floodwaters. A few weeks later, a new threat emerged: Covid-19.
