New Souvenir: Blue Switch Day 2020!

"2020 is a special year for geocaching as it marks the 20th year of people around the world using GPS technology to find adventure, community, and of course geocaches. This was all made possible by the events that took place on May 2, 2000, or as geocachers call it, Blue Switch Day. 

Before this day, accurate GPS technology was only selectively available. On May 2, 2000 the U.S. government flipped the switch and Selective Availability was turned off, suddenly making accurate GPS technology available to all. We’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of this day with a brand new Blue Switch Day souvenir! 

We recognize that for many of us in our community going outside to earn this souvenir is not an option right now based on advisories from public health authorities. Due to these circumstances we decided to make the Blue Switch Day souvenir available from May 2 through December 31, 2020.  

Starting May 2 through the end of the year, earn the Blue Switch Day 2020 souvenir by finding a geocache, Adventure Lab, or attending an Event."
