Geocache Description:


This is the city, Downers Grove, Illinois. Like any other town, money is an important part of what makes a comfortable life possible. Some people work a 9 to 5 job, some own their own business, some play the stock market and others rob and steal to get what they want. That's where I come in. I carry a badge.

It's bright sunny day, seems an unlikely day for a bank robbery. At 5:59pm an alarm was sounded at the Chase Bank on Ogden Avenue. The police department responded within a few minutes and surprised the bank robber as he exited the bank.

The story you are about to read isn't true. The names were changed to protect the innocent.

Shots were fired and the suspect was hit but not fatally. He still managed to make it to his get-away car and sped off. The police chased in hot pursuit heading south on Main Street. As the suspect approached the Burlington Northern train tracks, the crossing gates were coming down. He crashed through the gates just before the freight train crossed the street, leaving the police stuck on the north side of the tracks.

My partner Bill Gannon and I were at Pete's Coffee shop and witnessed the suspect's car crash through the crossing gates. We had just finished our donuts and hurried to our car to pursue the suspect. As we crossed 61st Street we noticed a car which, by all appearances was the suspect's car, parked at the southern end of Ebersold parking lot. The only signs of the suspect were droplets of blood leading away from the vehicle and, where he grabbed trees to help him along his search for a hiding spot.

HOW TO FIND THE SUSPECT'S HIDE-A-WAY:
  • Park hours are Dawn to Dusk which is defined as 60 minutes before sunrise and 60 minutes after sunset.
  • Begin your hunt at sunset and you have 60 minutes to complete your mission. Do not hunt this cache outside of park hours, the police will chase you out and I'll have to archive the cache.
  • Begin your search at the posted coordinates. You'll need a flashlight to follow the bloody trail.
  • It may help to move a few feet away from each bloody spot in order to spot the next one.
  • Never Shine your light at the houses, the suspect would not approach the houses.
  • If you don't see the next bloody spot, try looking behind you,if it's not behind it's ahead.
  • If the suspect lingered in a spot, there will be multiple bloody spots.
  • Four large blood stains and you've found it.
  • Now look low.
