About this cache:   You are looking for a medium-sized lock ‘n’ lock container along the White Trail at Ogden and Ruth Livingston Mills State Park.  The White Trail goes high above the Hudson River shore with beautiful views.

Blue Violets were extremely popular in the Dutchess County area  -- so popular that Dutchess County was once known as the “Violet Capital of the World.” Blue violets are short-stemmed, herbaceous plants that are perennial. They are known at times to be self-seeding, or can grow freely, but they can also thrive in greenhouses. Some may even consider Blue Violets to be weed-like plants. Ogden Mills entered Blue Violets in many horticultural competitions. While entering a show in 1914, he came in second for “Fifty Double Blue Violets” after Frederick W. Vanderbilt. In 1911, he won first place.
