Geocache Description:

This two-stage multi cache is a tribute to my geo-friend Lori, who owns several art-themed multis around the Omaha area. I love the series, so asked if I could place some. This way, she gets in on the fun of discovering some cool Omaha art in some unexpected places. The cache is not located at the posted coords; you'll need to answer the questions based on the artwork located there to figure out the coords to the final. Look for parking on nearby side streets; you'll walk to the final stage. Note that Omaha parks and trails are closed between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM, so this cache is not available during those hours.

Posted coords take you to the South Omaha Trail at about 35th and Vinton. Note that the silos are abandoned, and trespassing is verboten and unnecessary. Stage 1 can be completed from the trail (and is wheelchair-friendly.) Stage 2 is located within 6 feet of the trail in a wooded area. I stocked the camoed container with a pen and some kid-friendly swag. PLEASE be aware of muggles when retrieving and replacing, and cover the container well with natural camo once you've SL.

At first glance, this artwork looks like graffiti, but as you will learn from this cache, it isn't. I would encourage you to look up more about the artist whose name is associated with this the art on these silos; he was a well-known Omaha artist. His work (dubbed "meticulous realism" because of its amazing detail) is striking. If you are so inclined, mention your favorite panel in your log. Mine's probably #6.

Number the painted silos in your head, 1-11, #1 being closest to Vinton Street. The number next to each letter below tells you which silo gives you the answer for that step.

N 41 13.ABC W 095 57.DEF

A (#6) The number of penguins on this panel, plus 2

B (#2) The number of (non-human) animals on this panel

C (#5) Note the year on this panel. Subtract the 3rd digit in the year from the 4th digit.

D (#1) The number of teeth the monster (yeti?) has, minus 3

E (#4) The number of letters in the word painted in white

F (#11) The number of letters in the last name of the Omaha artist for whom the program was named
