You are looking for a small-sized lock 'n' lock container at Denning's Point. Watch for poison ivy.
In 1785, Adjutant-General William Denning of George Washington's staff purchased the land. (Remember that Washington had headquarters across the river in Newburgh.) The Denning family built a mansion called "Presqu'ile" (Almost Island) on the southern part of the point. William Dennings built a farm and a cider business here. One of his most popular items was Denning's Crab Apple Cider, which was fermented before sale. Drink up! (Source: Denning's Point - A Hudson River History by Jim Heron)
