My wife and I had the great pleasure of visiting the Mayan Riviera during our honeymoon many, many moons ago. During one particular day trip, we visited the small town of Xpu Há (Spanish pronunciation: [sh'pu ha]). It is a bay, village, and resort area in Solidaridad municipality of Quintana Roo state in southeastern Mexico. The day we spent there was one of the most beautiful and memorable of our lifetimes. We always said that we wanted to return one day, but life has a way of throwing curve balls at you and the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.
Lake Lanier, while not boasting the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean, is still quite beautiful in its own right. So while we ponder a return visit one day, I thought I'd bring a little piece of Xpu Há back to north Georgia and hide a cache on this island using its name.
