We like to come down here a few times a year and look for interesting minerals.
Years ago, this area hosted a Copper mining operation, and the residence of the original prospecter can still be seen if you look carefully along the road a few metres up the hill from the trailhead area.
Park at the Trailhead, and walk down the road until it veers right, and goes across the river. DO NOT cross the river, keep walking, and the cache will become apparent, on the left.
There are lots of Copper deposits from the tailings left behind. We often find Garnet, Serpentine, Silver, Pyrite, and occasionally, Lazulite deposits. Bring a sledgehammer, rock hammer and safety glasses if you want to get serious!
This is a wetland, and songbirds love the area. Eagles can often be seen along the ridge to the North as well.
