About this cache:  You are looking for a lock 'n' lock container at Dennings Point.  Watch out for poison ivy.

On August 8, 1683,  Francis Rombout and Gulian Verplanck purchased 85,000 acres from the Wappinger tribe.  Called the Romboout Patent, this land included what today is known as Denning's Point.  In exchange for the land, the Wappinger received "perhaps $1200 worth of items, including wampum, gun, gunpowder, cloth, shirts, rum, tobacco, and beer." (Source: mountguilian.org) Francis Rombout's daughter, Catharyna Brett (also known as Madame Brett) eventually sold the land to Jacobus de Petster, who renamed it "DePeyster's Point".

In Beacon nowadays, there is Rombout Avenue and Rombout Middle School; Mount Guilan Historic Site; Verplanck Avenue; Madam Brett Park, N. Brett Avenue and S. Brett Avenue; and Depuyster Avenue.  And now you know where all those names came from.
