Geocache Description:

I am a zoologist by training and thought it would be fun to do a virtual zoo (the world is doing everything virtually right now, thanks to COVID-19). This cache is the next in the series and is sponsored by the letter I.

There are 28 species of ibis in the world and they are found worldwide. I have worked with several species. White ibis are very common in Florida, Sacred ibis were once worshiped by the ancient Egytians and were even mummified. The most striking in my opinion, and my favorite is the scarlet ibis. Scarlet ibis as their name suggests are a deep pink/red color and just happen to be the national bird of Trinidad and Tobago. Many people confuse them for baby flamingos.

Here is a link to the other caches in the Zoology series.

These foot tall wading birds have long legs and long bills which they use to probe the mud for a variety of invertebrates as well as small vertebrates. Fish, frogs, bugs, worms and snakes are just a few of the items in their diet. They are very social and gregarious spending their time in large flocks.

I figured what better place to hide the ibis cache than on Ibis Street. The coords kept bouncing a lot when I made the hide, so if you have a better fix, please share.
