This is the sixth cache in my 'Chorus Cabinet Art' Series and replaces another of my caches that was once placed here (GC82MYD), which fell foul of the geocaching rules around public utility boxes (P.U.Bs). This series is placed to highlight the local artistic talent that Chorus has commissioned to brighten up their otherwise boring P.U.Bs.
There are already caches adorning other painted cabinets around Blenheim which are mostly based on a native bird theme and painted by Gynelle Blake. This piece of artwork is from budding local artist, Freya Thompson who was only 14 years old when she was commissioned to paint this Public Utility Box which was completed in January 2019. Freya was responsible for the design of this piece of artwork but was assisted by Gynelle Blake to paint it.
The image depicts Mother Nature (Mater Natura) and her sadness at environmental issues that are going on today. Her colourful hair and the butterfly are about hope.
We all know you aren't permitted to place caches on P.U.Bs any more so to find this one go to the listed coordinates and project a bearing of 86 degrees for 33 metres.
