As people get too reliant on technology and apps glued to the screen, for this you will be required to resort to good old fashioned map and compass skills aka orienteering, utilising the waypoints to find the final cache location. A reasonably sized multi so please allow plenty time and dress for the weather.
Items required:
- Silva/Suunto Compass with degrees
- O/S Explorer Map 350 1:25 000 scale (recommended as far clearer than 1:50 000) or equivalent
- A GPS may help you to confirm location.
Some waypoint information to get you started on your trek.... All bearings are magnetic and distances are as crow flies. Check the map, lay of the land and select your route accordingly.
1. From the start, your first waypoint will be found on a bearing of 290 degrees for 880 metres. Hint: 1m wide Gap/gate in wall
2. From gate, the next waypoint is on a bearing of 264 degrees and 420 metres away.
3. Your next waypoint will be found 350 metres away on a bearing of ???? - 2854 degrees.
4. The name plate you see, take note. From this position a bearing of 002 degrees and a distance of (A)00 metres will take you to the next location. A = Number of rows on name plate. Hint: Hang around til you find it....
Beyond this point the remainder of the waypoint(s) are physical with the information required...
Remember, it's a map and compass exercise! GPS can only help you so much, look at the map and look for any features that stick out! Good luck!
