Geocache Description:

This collection of caches has nothing to do with the Church Micro series in the UK. Given that the Australian 2016 census indicates that No Religion and Jedi Knight are the fastest increasing classifications of the optional religion question "What is the person's religion?" it is not surprising that there is surfeit of empty churches that have been repurposed.

Left: West Hindmarsh Bible Christian Church
Known as "Little Glory". Foundation stone 18 May 1885 by Rev James Roberts. Methodist after Union in 1900. Enlarged with a 20 foot extension in 1903.  Became Sunday school & lecture hall when new church was built next door in 1914.

Right: West Hindmarsh Methodist Church
Methodist church built to replace the small chapel.  Foundation stone laid by T T Brown, mayor of Hindmarsh in 1914. Extensions were opened in 1917.  The church became Uniting in 1977.  In 2002 the church site closed when the congregation merged with Findon, Allenby Gardens, Flinders Park & Kidman Park.  Since that time the buildings have been restored as an impressive private residence.
